ASCA is a national organisation which works to improve the lives of adult survivors of child abuse throughout Australia. It campaigns on behalf of those affected by childhood abuse, lobbying governments and policy makers as well as educating and informing communities and health care professionals about the needs of those affected by childhood trauma. Our 2009 National Advertising Campaign, the largest Australian campaign ever to address the topic of adults surviving child abuse. It was launched on Feb 9th and
can be viewed by clicking here. It was followed in June by a human rights campaign, highlighting the human rights abuses of child abuse as well as the ongoing human rights abuses suffered by adult survivors of child abuse. To read more click here.
ASCA's long-term strategy is to ensure that all adult survivors of all forms of child abuse and neglect in Australia regardless of geographical, economic and other parameters will be able to access the specific services they need, professionally delivered for as long as required to ensure health, well-being and meaningful engagement in the communities in which they live. In 2009 ASCA has rolled out its workshop program nationally with the welcome support of the Federal government. We are currently seeking ongoing funding so these crucial programs can reach the more than 2 million Australian adult survivors of child abuse in need. We are also rolling out education and training programs for health care workers and frontline workers. Further courses and programs are in the pipeline. ASCA is seeking to deliver a comprehensive model of care to adult survivors throughout Australia through partnerships and collaborations but needs ongoing government and community support to reach its goals.
